The discipline
Relational Engineering
The relationships that change a year of work don't happen by chance: they come from a system almost no one has ever designed. Relational Engineering (Ingegneria Relazionale, coined in Italy) is the discipline that treats that system the way every system is treated — it is studied, designed and measured.

If you arrived here searching "relationship marketing"
You have the right problem and the old name. Relationship marketing cultivates a relationship in order to sell to someone. Here value flows in two directions, and no one is the other's target.
The mother statement
The right relationships aren't luck. They're engineering.
Every discipline that changed the way people think was born by reversing an obvious truth. Before modern medicine, it was obvious that illness was fate. Before statistics, it was obvious that the future was unknowable. Before management, it was obvious that being able to run a business was a talent you were born with.
Every time, the discipline was born the exact moment someone said: what you call fate, talent or luck is actually a system — and systems are studied, designed and measured.
Our obvious truth to reverse is the oldest one in business: that the right relationships are a matter of luck, of charisma, of "knowing how to work a room". That the person capable of changing your year is met by chance.
For centuries we believed it, and for centuries we paid the price of that belief: immense, sterile networks, opportunities that died in silence, value left frozen between people who never shook hands.
The official definition
What Relational Engineering is
This is the text of the Founding Charter, reported unchanged. Every word is chosen, and every word does work.
Relational Engineering is the discipline that treats valuable relationships between people as a designable, measurable system. It studies the conditions under which trust forms, the laws that govern how value between people moves or gets blocked, and the methods for designing connections that generate mutual value — replacing chance with a method, charisma with a process, opinion with a measure.

-
Discipline
Not a technique, and not a product: an organic body of laws, method, tools, measures and values. Techniques are learned in an afternoon and forgotten in a season; disciplines are studied, taught and founded once.
-
Valuable relationships
Not the number of people you know, but the relationships capable of generating value in both directions. A thousand names in an address book that open no doors aren't an asset: they're an archive.
-
System
Relationships aren't isolated events but nodes in a network, and what happens at one node propagates. It's this systemic nature that makes engineering possible: where there's structure, there's design.
-
Designable
Chance can be replaced with method. It isn't about forcing spontaneity — trust remains a human fact — but about designing the conditions where it has the highest probability of happening between the right people.
-
Measurable
Without measurement there is no science, only anecdote. How many meetings generate value, how often the person was the right one, how much trust accumulates over time: the discipline submits itself to the judgment of the numbers.
-
And the horizon
The discipline is born in business, because that's where the cost of chance is most visible and the return of method is most measurable. But business is the entry door; society is the destination.
The problem
The default operating system is chance
It isn't a matter of effort. It's that the most valuable resource — the right person at the right time — is left to the least reliable process there is.
Names pile up the way business cards used to: in quantity, without a plan. Professional platforms have multiplied the names in the address book and divided the value of each one — hundreds of connections, very few doors that open.
Cold outreach, saturating every channel, has turned from a tool into noise: messages perceived as spam, calls that warm up nothing, campaigns that cost more every year and return less every year. Meanwhile hundreds of hours a year are burned on networking left to chance: crowded, sterile events, empty handshakes, "let me introduce you" that never arrives.
The paradox is that everyone knows the way out. The large majority of important B2B deals aren't born from a cold call: they're born from a warm introduction, from someone the client already trusts opening the door. When that door opens, the deal is already halfway there.
And yet no one has ever structured the way warm introductions come about. They're hoped for. Waited on. Thanked for when they show up. The cost of this operating system is invisible because it's spread out — an evening here, a trip there, hours nobody bills to themselves — and it's enormous because it's systemic.
The Cemetery of Inaction is the largest untapped deposit of value in the entire economy.
The biggest cost isn't the one you see on the balance sheet: it's the value that never gets born. The right relationships that never start, the synergies left frozen in waiting, the complementary businesses that never meet. It's the First Law, and it's the reason this discipline exists.
Why now
Three forces matured together, and only together
A discipline isn't founded when someone feels like it: it's founded when conditions make it possible. Ten years ago the second force was missing; in ten years the window will be closed by someone else.
-
01 · Saturation
Cold outreach no longer works
Noise has killed the channel. Whoever is looking for growth needs a structural alternative, not one more interruption tool. A customer bought with an ad has to be bought again tomorrow; a well-built relationship produces for years.
-
02 · Calculation
For the first time, affinity can be calculated
An algorithm can evaluate the affinity between two people across dozens of variables — who they are, what they do, who they know, how reliable they are — and do it at scale. That's the job of AIRA©, the discipline's calculation engine.
-
03 · Authenticity
The human has become the scarce resource again
The more the world automates, the rarer — and so the more valuable — the human introduction, the handshake, the real relationship become. Technology takes a step back exactly at the moment people meet.
Mature technology, a saturated old channel, growing demand for humanity: this is the window in which categories get founded. Whoever crosses it first plants a flag on territory everyone lives in and no one has ever mapped.
Disambiguation
First of all, what it isn't
Categories are also defined by negation, and predictable confusions are best cleared up right away. There are five, and the first is the one that brings most people here.
It isn't relationship marketing
"Relationship marketing" is the phrase most people search today to find this thing. It's an honest phrase and it did important work: it shifted attention from the single transaction — transactional marketing — to the relationship that lasts over time. But it still looks at the relationship from one side only, the side of whoever is selling.
Relationship marketing uses the relationship as a means to sell to a target. It builds loyalty, nurtures, accompanies, and in the end converts: value moves in one direction only, from the customer toward whoever built the relationship. Relational Engineering designs relationships in which value flows in both directions: no one is a target, everyone is a node. The difference isn't cosmetic, it's the difference between extracting value from people and generating it with people.
There's also a difference in nature, and it weighs more than the difference in intent. Relationship marketing is a set of techniques inside a business function: it gets applied, changed, replaced. A discipline doesn't. It has laws that describe how the system behaves and that can be tested, a method that can be taught, measures that can be challenged. That's why this page exists and why, below, you find six laws with their corollaries instead of six tips.
The practical test
After a year of relationship marketing, there's no number to give when asked "how much is the capital of trust you've built worth today?" The discipline demands that number: it calls it Relational Capital, and makes it measurable and accountable.
If you arrived here searching "relationship marketing", here's the translation: what you were looking for is a way to make the right introductions happen on purpose, instead of waiting for them. That way exists, has a different name, and starts from the six laws.
The discipline's lexicon is binding here too: whoever introduces is called a Connector, the act is called referencing, and what the system delivers are partners and people in target — never promises of customers.
-
It isn't networking
Networking is an activity; Relational Engineering is the science that makes it designable. They relate to each other the way running relates to training science: you can run at random your whole life, or train with method and measure. The activity stays; everything around it changes — and that's why the discipline is compatible with people already in a networking club.
-
It isn't a platform
MigaMATCH is the discipline's tool, not the discipline. Confusing the two is like confusing astronomy with the telescope: the telescope can be bought, astronomy has to be founded. And it isn't an "AI-first" service either: AIRA© orchestrates and qualifies, but the value stays in the relationship between two people. The algorithm accelerates, it doesn't replace.
-
It isn't an MLM, nor a sales network
You don't earn by recruiting someone underneath you, and there is no tiered structure where pay depends on who you brought in. It's a discipline with a movement, and the movement has a code of ethics before any mechanics: its members join by sharing what they know and who they know, not by paying an entry fee.
-
It isn't cold lead generation
We don't sell lists, we don't scrape, we don't send cold messages. We don't sell contacts, we create opportunities. Every match starts with a Connector who personally knows both parties, and the two people only sit down if both said yes. And the company doesn't delegate the sale to anyone: it receives qualified introductions and closes on its own.
The heart of the discipline
A discipline is distinguished from a philosophy because it has laws
Statements that describe how the world behaves, that can be tested and that can be used to design. There are six. The first five were put to the test by a red team of Connectors convened to break them: four out of five came out of it with a corollary, and a sixth was born in that session.
-
01
Inaction
In the absence of a mechanism that establishes who moves first, mutual waiting is the system's equilibrium state.
-
02
The Odd One (Dispari)
Among equals the system tends toward equilibrium, and equilibrium is stalemate. Value begins to flow when one actor tips the balance first.
-
03
Completion
Generative connections are born from difference that completes, but complementarity opens the possibility: it doesn't guarantee it.
-
04
Multiplication
Activating a person is addition; activating an organisation is multiplication — but only if someone inside it has the mandate to make it happen.
-
05
Measurement
Reliability isn't a state, it's a trajectory. Only the curve, not the single point, tells you whether a trust is consolidated.
-
06
Referenced Risk
In every reference the one at risk isn't the person referenced: it's whoever references them, staking their own reputation.
A law doesn't break: you're subject to it, like gravity. What breaks are the agreements built on top of the laws. And the laws aren't the values: the values are chosen and signed, the laws hold regardless — even for whoever doesn't know them.
From laws to method
The laws describe, the method applies
The operating cycle has four beats, and each descends from the laws. It's a flywheel: more meetings generate more data, more data generates better meetings. It's why time works for the discipline instead of against it.
-
01 · Footprint
Relational capital made visible
The person profiles themselves in depth: who they are, what they do and above all who they know. It's the map without which no engineering is possible. Whoever joins shares their own profile — they don't hand it over — with one stated purpose: to receive excellent people to meet, never advertising.
-
02 · Calculation
AIRA© finds the few right ones
The algorithm evaluates every possible connection across several dimensions — strategic affinity, commercial complementarity, intersecting value chain, relational reliability — and identifies the few introductions with the highest probability of generating mutual value. The calculation exists to give back time, not to fill it.
-
03 · Meeting
Technology takes a step back
The parties receive the introduction and context, and really get to know each other. Trust is only born between people, and the handshake remains the discipline's sovereign gesture. No one sits down without having said yes.
-
04 · Measure
Every meeting leaves a trace
Every meeting receives a rating from whoever experienced it, every piece of feedback leaves a trace, every trace feeds the next calculation. This is also where the Matching Agreement lives: an optional mutual commitment with stated terms and timing, which the system verifies after a margin of thirty days.
The proof
A discipline without data is a philosophy
We could have published that nine out of ten users find the right person on the first match: the raw data would have allowed it, we'd just have had to skip counting a few real deliveries. We counted every one, and the number went down.

6%
Of matches delivered receive no response at all
Last 30 days, as of 13/08/2026 · the uncomfortable number: published with the same method as the others
That 6% was 10% when we first published it, and we published it while it was hurting us. It improved because we measured it, not because we told the story better: it's the Fifth Law applied to whoever states it. In a market where everyone inflates their numbers, honesty isn't a cost: it's the weapon. If you can trust our most uncomfortable number, you can trust everything else.
Source. MigaMATCH production database, read on 13/08/2026. The windows differ on purpose: response rate and meetings are measured over the last thirty days, the right person on the first match is measured all-time because over thirty days it would be too noisy. No result is promised as a guarantee: these are measures, and they carry how they were taken.
The architecture
The flag above, the pillars below
The mistake that kills nascent categories is chaining the discipline to the product: "the proprietary method of", "the exclusive framework of". It works for selling and condemns you to stay small — because a proprietary method is only ever as big as the company that sells it.
| Pillar | Nature | What it does | What it guards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Relational Engineering | The discipline | Defines laws, method, lexicon and horizon | The category and the canon |
| Segnalazione Vincente | The method made company | Applies the discipline to businesses and trains Referral Directors | The cases and the advanced practice |
| Connector Network | The movement | Gathers whoever embraces the Manifesto; generates and receives references | The lived values and the distribution |
| MigaMATCH | The machine | Gathers the Footprint, runs the calculation with AIRA©, delivers matches and measures the feedback | The relational database: the moat |
The discipline belongs to the world — anyone will be able to study it, teach it, practise it — and what we guard is what can't be copied: the origin, the canon and the most advanced practice. No one owns physics. Someone founded it. It's a stronger position than ownership: ownership can be contested, authorship can't.
The horizon
The Spherical Economy
Every discipline that aspires to the world has to say which world it wants. Ours has a name: the Spherical Economy. On a sphere there are no corners and no peripheries: every point on the surface is equidistant from the centre — and the centre isn't occupied by an individual, but by the community. Every Connector is a node that receives and gives back; no node extracts value without putting it back in.
We don't ask people to become better: we change the incentives, so that collaborating pays more than competing. The Law of the Odd One makes the first step rational, structured reciprocity makes giving back worthwhile, and the measure of reliability makes consistency profitable.
R = MC/2
Reciprocity equals Match Credit divided by two: a declared homage to history's most famous equation. In four symbols it states the setup's most radical insight — gratitude can be structured. The "I owe you one", the oldest and most volatile currency in business, becomes a defined, delegable unit of value that circulates instead of evaporating.
"We'll change the world, one match at a time."
The first step
The discipline applied to your company
A discipline that isn't measured is an opinion. AIRA-SCAN© measures yours: ten questions, three minutes, no registration, and it tells you where value is getting blocked and which law explains it.
Then the extended report arrives by email and within one working day a person calls you: you look at the result together and assess whether the AIRA-DX© Stoic Analysis makes sense for your company. It's free and limited to twelve a week, so it's never owed to whoever does the check-up: it's decided between two people.
Would you rather just talk? The number is 0549 888808, and the contact page also has the form.
